A dominant performance back at home for the first time in 10 days, spurred the Murray State Lady Aggies to a 6-0 shutout of Connors State on Wednesday in Tishomingo.
Murray State upped its overall record to 2-0-1 on the season while knocking the Cowgirls from the unbeaten ranks as well following a 3-0 start.
"We had a great all-around performance," said head coach Alex Morais. "We managed to control all moments of the game that we talked about as a group, and we are really happy with how we played today."
The Lady Aggies took command from the start in posting a pair of first half goals from
Linda Trubger and
Celine Loraine. Trubger cashed in off an assist from
Emilia Zanetti.
Murray State's offensive barrage continued after the halftime break with
Cristina Escudero feeding Zanetti for the initial goal of the half.
Camden Fawver added another with Zanetti getting her second assist of the day. McKayla Rios set up
Celine Loraine for the next goal and
Kellie McMahon knocked in the final score following a
Caitlin Jones assist.
With the offense controlling possession much of the contest,
Takielia Griffiths had a fairly light outing in goal, turning back the efforts Connors State managed to get off with three saves.
The Lady Aggies visit Rose State for their next action on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
