Cristina Escudero's goal with just 2:39 remaining provided the decisive margin as the Murray State Lady Aggies edged University of Arkansas Rich Mountain, 2-1, on Wednesday in a showdown for conference positioning.

The Lady Aggies improved to 6-4-2 in league play and 7-4-2 overall with another pivotal battle on Sunday at Eastern State College on the horizon.

Murray State claimed the early lead in the contest with a Celine Loraine unassisted goal with only 5:55 gone.

Despite the Lady Aggies peppering the Rich Mountain goal with 18 total shots, it remained a 1-0 score until the Lady Bucks punched through a goal in the 51st minute to tie the score.

Things continued to go back and forth until Bridie Thompson fed Escudero for the eventual game winner with time running thin in the second half.

Rich Mountain managed just nine shots on goal against the Murray State defense.

"Our group really deserved this win today," head coach Alex Morais commented. "We battled until the end and kept knocking on the door to eventually get our second goal in. It was big moment for big players and I'm glad that Cristina was able to help us in a crucial moment of the game. Now we need to focus on Sunday's game as they are also competing with us for the number three seed in the region playoffs."
