A late offensive barrage came up empty for the Murray State Lady Aggies, dropping a 1-0 decision to Rose State College in women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon in Tishomingo.

The Lady Aggies slipped to 6-4-2 overall and 5-4-2 in conference action with a pivotal matchup against University of Arkansas Rich Mountain coming up at home on Wednesday with playoff positioning in the balance. The two teams tied 1-1 in the earlier battle in Arkansas on September 11.

After managing just three shots on goal in the opening half, Murray State turned it up a notch in the final 10-minute segment with seven shots alone, including a blast by Kellie McMahon with 7:42 remaining that narrowly missed thanks to a diving save by the Lady Raider keeper. Celine Loraine also contributed a near miss that sailed just wide of the goal post.

Rose State snuck through a hole in the Lady Aggie defense for the game's lone goal in the 75^th minute that was just sliced by a dive attempt by Takielia Griffiths.

The Lady Raiders tallied 15 total shots on goal with Griffiths posting eight saves. Murray State also got solid defensive efforts from the back line that included Linda Trubger, Sofia Couvre, Jasandra Joseph, Camden Fawver and Sofia Lopez.

"We got tired in the second half again because of our lack of depth," head coach Alex Morais said. "It was our fourth game in a week and with just 15 players in uniform it's tough. We had some girls that had to play 90 minutes today. There was a little miscommunication with 15 minutes, and we conceded the goal but overall the defense was great. We probably had more shots in the last 10 minutes though when we really got aggressive than we did the rest of the game.

"I was proud of the effort. It's just a matter of getting the ball in the net. We have a very big game this week for playoff positioning with Rich Mountain."
