WARNER, Okla. – Sophomore
Takielia Griffiths and the Murray State defense posted another clean slate and the Lady Aggies steadily pulled away for a 3-0 conference soccer blanking of Connors State on the road Friday.
Improving to 6-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in league play, the Lady Aggies will be back home on Sunday looking to avenge an earlier loss to Rose State College with a 1 p.m. kickoff in Tishomingo.
The Lady Aggies were limited in offensive opportunities in the Connors State victory but made the most of their chances by finding the back of the Cowgirl net three times.
Kellie McMahon broke the scoreless deadlock 21 minutes and 40 seconds into the game with a goal that was assisted by
Celine Loraine.
Loraine added to the lead nine minutes later, punching one into the back of the net off a
Caitlin Jones feed. Murray State's final offensive charge came in the game's 54
th minute when
Cristina Escudero fed
Linda Trubger for the lone second half goal.
Griffiths made both her save opportunities in pitching the shutout in goal.
"We played well today and were able to put our chances away," said head coach Alex Morais. "Our back line defense did an amazing job in possession which helped to dominate the game. We have a quick turnaround for our next match Sunday."
