MIAMI, Okla –
Cristina Escudero and
Bridie Thompson scored two goals apiece and the Murray State Lady Aggies returned to the win column with a strong 5-0 road victory over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Sunday afternoon.
Thompson punched through the only goal of the first half in the 25
th minute while cashing in a
Caitlin Jones assist.
That 1-0 advantage held up into the second half with Thompson slicing through an unassisted score 13 minutes in that doubled the lead.
Escudero then got in on the scoring during a massive flurry, connecting for two goals in a span of just two minutes. The first was unassisted in the 66
th minute and the second came from a Jones feed in the game's 68
th minute.
Murray State added a final goal with four minutes remaining as
Kellie McMahon found the back of the net off a
Sofia Lopez assist.
The Lady Aggies dominated possession with 13 shots on goal to just three for NEO.
Takielia Griffiths had a pair of saves in the three Lady Norse shots while notching her sixth shutout of the season in goal.
The Lady Aggies improved to 7-5-3 in league play and return home Wednesday to close out the regular season at 2 p.m. against Redlands Community College with an opportunity to improve their region tournament seeding with a victory.
