Murray women battle to 1-1 Eastern stalemate

For 70 minutes, Sunday's women's soccer battle with the Murray State Lady Aggies and Eastern State College was a defensive slugfest in Wilburton.

Each team found the net however in just over a minute but those two goals proved to be all the scoring as the teams battled to a 1-1 deadlock in a key showdown for playoff positioning.

Murray State is now 7-4-3 overall and 6-4-3 in league play with Eastern at 5-6-2 in conference and roughly two games back in the standings. The Lady Aggies host conference leader and national powerhouse Seminole State College in their next action on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Kellie McMahon provided the Lady Aggies' lone goal in that 70th minute flurry off a Katherine Walker assist with Eastern punching through its only score just a minute later. The two squads then played to a stalemate over the final 19 minutes of action.

Takielia Griffiths was solid in goal once more, saving five of the six Lady Mountaineer shots on goal.
