Murray State women notch 10th victory

It took more than 40 minutes for Murray State to break through with a goal, but the Lady Aggies got the offense rolling after intermission on the way to a 5-1 road conference win over University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain on Wednesday.

The Lady Aggies added to the advantage just over 11 minutes into the second half and after allowing a rare goal on a penalty kick, responded with three unanswered goals to put the victory away while improving to 10-1-1 on the season. The first came with 20 minutes left and the final two scores came in succession with under 10 minutes to play.

Freshman Celine Loraine found the net for a pair of goals with Mercedes Stumblingbear, Kaylee Foster and Uxia Varela notching one goal apiece. Murray State also got assists from Stumblingbear, Varela, Montserrat Torres, Jasandra Joseph and Hanna Brew.

After upping their conference record to 7-1-1, the Lady Aggies return home on Sunday to close out their season series with Rose State for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
