Murray women fall to #2 Seminole in district finals

A magical, record-breaking 2023 season came to an end for the Murray State Lady Aggies Saturday afternoon, falling just short against nationally second-rated Seminole State in the Region 2 South District championship game, 3-1, at the Advance Soccer Complex in Enid.

The undefeated Lady Trojans advance on to the NJCAA national tournament while Murray State wraps up the season with a school record 15 victories and overall record of 15-4-2 as three of the defeats came at the hands of Seminole State.

Seminole grabbed the lead in the first half, which made things difficult against a team that had allowed four total goals since a season-opening tie.

The Lady Aggies managed to work a goal against the ultra-stingy Lady Trojan when Bethan Cowd connected off an Annika Huder assist but that proved to be all the offense for Murray State.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jimena Guevara had another solid outing in her final contest with the Lady Aggies, recording seven saves.
