The Murray State Lady Aggies set a new school record for wins in a season and punched their ticket for the NJCAA South District Tournament title contest with a 2-1 win over Eastern Oklahoma State College on Friday night at the Advance Soccer Complex in Enid.

Upping their record to 15-3-2 in the first campaign under the direction of head coach John Connor, the Lady Aggies will go for the upset at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they face nationally second-ranked and currently unbeaten Seminole State College for the championship and automatic bid in the national tournament. It will be Murray State's first-ever appearance in the district finals.

"I am just immensely proud of the girls," Connor commented. "We have broken every record the school has. Most goals, most assists ever, most shutouts. It's just highly impressive by this group of young ladies. They deserve nothing but praise."

It was a tough battle against the Lady Mountaineers, who had been a thorn in Murray State's side during the regular season, battling to a scoreless deadlock in the meeting at Tishomingo and forging a 2-1 triumph in Wilburton. The Lady Aggies finally managed to come up with the victory in the third meeting, thanks to some timely scoring.

Uxia Varela picked up the game's initial goal after an early defensive stalemate, scoring off an assist from Kaylee Foster. Cristina Escudero added another goal on a penalty kick that proved to be critical in the victory.

Eastern managed to tally a score with seven minutes remaining but Jimena Guevara was strong in goal the rest of the way, turning away the Lady Mountaineers for the victory.
